SPECO to Lead Narcan Tent at Healing Appalachia
This September, SPECO is honored to lead the Narcan tent for the very first time at Healing Appalachia, a two-day music festival in Ashland, KY, on September 19–20. Healing Appalachia blends live music with a powerful mission: breaking the cycle of addiction and building hope in our region.
In previous years, SPECO has supported the festival by giving out naloxone (Enjoy the photo from a few years ago where we gave out Narcan and tabled at Healing Appalachia in Lewisburg!) This year marks a new step forward as we take on a leadership role, coordinating the main Narcan tent. Volunteers will provide life-saving naloxone, overdose response training, and compassionate conversation. In between trainings, the tent will also serve as a space for storytelling, where experiences of struggle, resilience, and recovery can be shared.
Healing Appalachia is more than a festival; it’s a movement. Each year, it gathers hundreds of volunteers and distributes thousands of doses of naloxone, reminding us that recovery is possible and that communities are stronger when they come together. SPECO is grateful for the opportunity to deepen our involvement and extend our mission beyond Huntington
