Every Baby Deserves Dry Diapers & You Can Help
In the West End, a quiet movement of practical compassion has been growing. You may have seen it through the West End Faith Alliance Care Tree project, which have been stocked with hygiene and cleaning supplies and now live at the Henrietta Payne Boys & Girls Club and the West End Branch Public Library. The need for supplies continues to grow, and this month we are focusing on collecting diapers.
Diapers are one of the most needed basic necessities for families with babies and young children. They're expensive and cannot be purchased with food stamps or WIC. Going without diapers has real consequences for babies' health and parents' ability to work or keep childcare. Many families in our community are quietly struggling to keep up.
As Pastor Ruth Peaden of Central Church of the Nazarene put it when the Care Trees were installed: "These are basic necessities that no one should have to go without. Our community needs to know that they are seen and cared for."
The West End Faith Alliance is a collaboration of local congregations and community partners including SPECO. We are collecting diapers of any size at this month's Walk in Faith Fellowship gathering. Drop off your donation and stay for an evening of snacks, community, and a special presentation from guest speaker Jan Rader.
