Spring into Community Action With SPECO
Spring has officially arrived in Huntington, WV! As the weather warms and the trees begin to bloom, SPECO is gearing up for a vibrant summer filled with chances to get involved and make a difference in your neighborhood. Read on to discover how you can lend a hand this spring—whether behind the scenes or out on the streets.
Recurring On the Street Distributions
Rain or sunshine, we make sure our clients are getting the care they deserve. You can find us providing a meal, carbags, Narcan, and more to clients each Thursday at the Thursday Meal Distribution in front of Harmony House. Additionally, on the third Saturday of each month, we meet up at SPECO and serve our neighbors at the floodwall by distributing carebags and Narcan to those who may need it. To prep for these distributions, you can meet us at the SPECO Outreach Center on the first Sunday of the month to pack carebags in an assembly-line fashion.Lot of Love Garden Work Day
Come out and help us turn over soil and prep the garden for another successful year during our Spring Love of Love Work Day scheduled for April 11th. This is a great chance to also come and learn about the garden, consider adopting a bed, and more!
Moving Day
SPECO is excited to announce that we are officially moving out of the Outreach Center and into St. Peter’s Episcopal Church! This move will allow us to expand our programs and grow together so we can better serve our clients and neighbors. We have scheduled a moving day on April 18th for anyone who is able to assist with our big move across the street. We will need to move items, clean, and paint. Come get your hands dirty and help us with this endeavor!
Community Work Day
While we work to clean and move into our new space, we also want to dedicate some time to our neighborhood. Come out and assist with clean-up activities on April 19th and stick around for a fun cookout and our Lot of Love Raffle Drawing!
